"Pup" Swasey letters to his family, 1889 Jan-Feb.

24 ALS to his wife Fannie and children "Tot" and "Phip" describing his trip in the West, written on the illustrated letterhead of various hotels. He describes in detail San Francisco, Phoenix and New Orleans. He also describes his experience of traveling via railroad, detailing fears of train robbery and delays caused by a crash on the line ahead. Accompanied by a typewritten itinerary and three letters of introduction from Raymond-Whitcomb, Inc.

Swasey traveled via Chicago and Denver to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, New Orleans, Lexington, Washington, D.C., and New York City.
